The Ramshorn resort populate Grand Teton parkland was designed once 1935 by mountaineers Paul Petzoldt, founding father of the National outside Leadership faculty, and Gustav Koven. The property that became the Ramshorn Ranch was originally established by Ransom Adams at the mouth of Gros Ventre ravine close to Ditch Creek. By 1921 the property was nonheritable by Jack and Dollye Woodsman, WHO established the Flying V resort, that includes an oversized central lodge.
In 1932 the lodge burned, prompting the Woodsmans to sell the ranch to Koven and Petzoldt in 1935, WHO planned to expand the resort as a climb faculty and searching camp. Petzoldt withdrew from the partnership in 1937 once suggesting the name be modified to the Ramshorn Ranch.
The present lodge was completed in 1937 by the Woodward brothers, WHO took over operation. A range of homeowners and partners ensued till 1956, once the ranch was sold to the parkland Service. The Park Service then chartered the ranch back to concessioners WHO operated it because the Elbo Ranch till 1973, replacement the previous Elbo Ranch purchased by the Park Service. The Teton Science faculty was established on the property in 1974 underneath a special use allow.
The lodge is currently the most building of the Kelly field of the Teton Science faculty, and retains its rustic character. Structures from the close Hunter Hereford Ranch designed by Ogden, American state designer Eber Piers were affected from Orion ranch once Orion residential complicated was removed within the Nineteen Nineties.
