Detail InformationEdit

The palace in Racot was erected in 1780-90 by Dominik Merlini, the author of Łazienki palace in Warsaw, for the duke Antoni Barnaba Jabłonowski, a voivod (governor) of Poznań. [A. Plenzler; Castles, palaces and country mansions; Poznan 2007] It is a storeyed building, the pediment of which is decorated with a four-column portico. It was expanded in 1902 on its northern side by adding a new wing. Palace interiors have beautiful stucco and painting decorations. In 1798, Racot was sold to the future king of the Netherlands, Wilhelm of Orange and in 1878 it was inherited by the dukes of Weimar who were its owners until 1919. After the first World war, Racot became the property of the State Treasure and was designed to be a residence of the President of the Republic of Poland. Since 1928, well-known State Horse Stables have been located here. There are hotel rooms in the palace and one can organize conferences here. The palace complex includes also two palace outhouses (from the 18th century), stables and a coach house (from the turn of the 18th century), in which there is an exhibition with more than 30 old sledges and carriages for leisure, sport and representation purposes.
