The R. W. Norton gallery, in urban center, Louisiana, USA, homes collections of yankee and European paintings, sculptures and ornamental arts spanning quite four centuries. Since its gap in 1966, the repository has become notably well-known round the country for its spectacular collections of works by artists of the yankee West, Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell. Within the early Nineteen Thirties, Richard W. Norton (1886–1940) became one among the discoverers of the Rodessa Oil Field in north Pelican State.
Over time, man Norton’s married person and son began to amass a major assortment of art. In 1946, to honor man. Norton and for the good thing about the community, Richard W. Norton, Jr. (1919–1974) and his mother, Mrs Richard W. Norton (1886–1975) created the R. W. Norton Art Foundation. In turn, the muse eventually established the R. W. Today, as a result of the on-going efforts of the Board of management, the Foundation’s work and therefore the Gallery’s offerings still expand, grow, and contribute to their community.
When the building for the R. W. Norton gallery was originally planned, it had been determined to use a up to date style that might be lightweight, open, and possess the potential for growth. The ensuing Gallery opened in 1966 and presently contains 24 exhibition rooms.
