The Queen Victoria Record Reign Fountain commemorates the 60 year reign of Queen Victoria who was born on May 24, 1819. She ascended the throne in 1837 when she was 18. She was married to Prince Albert of Germany. Prince Albert died in 1861 when the queen was aged 42 years. The Federation of Australian Colonies was formed on January 01, 1901 and the Queen passed away a short time later on January 22, 1901. She ruled for 63 years straight and this fountain was put up in memory of her long rule.
