Qassimiut could be a settlement within the Kujalleq municipality in southern Kalaallit Nunaat. The settlement was based in 1835 as a commerce station. With a population of twenty nine in Oct 2010, it’s the tiniest organized, permanent settlement in Kalaallit Nunaat. KNI subsidiary Pilersuisoq operates a neighborhood, general-purpose retail store within the settlement.
The settlement has its’ own heliport- Qassimiut airport – that is operated by the Qaqortoq municipality. All alternative tranportation is by boat solely. The settlement has gravel roads, however there are not any cars. Net and phone communications square measure provided by Kalaallit Nunaat self-determination.
