Putnam, originally called Aspinock, then a part of sidesplittingly, could be a New England mill city incorporated in 1855. Created from sections of sidesplittingly, Pomfret, Woodstock, CT and Thompson, the city was named in honor of Revolutionary War General Israel Putnam. Putnam was a key contributor in providing covering} and different goods to the warfare troopers. there have been various mills and a train ran through the city, providing transportation for the products being created.
