Detail InformationEdit
This quite unassuming Castle was built on a hilltop above the village of Puchenau by Count Ernst Christof Schallenberg in 1674.
Puchenau Castle´s first floor was erected with quarry stones while the upper stories were made of brick. The Castle is square in shape with an augmented housekeeping wing at ground level. The stables were destroyed by a fire and never have been rebuilt.
An archway leads into the inner courtyard with a central dovecote made entirely of wood. The entrance gives way to a tiny foyer from where there is access to the two upper storeys by a spiral staircase. All rooms have high ceilings which adds to their hall like appearance.
