The Public Library of capital of Iowa is AN historic building in downtown capital of Iowa, Iowa, us that was inbuilt 1903. It had been singly listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and have become a contributive property within the Civic Center Historic District in 1988.The building ceased to be a library in 2006 and currently homes the Norman E. Borlaug-World Food Prize Hall of Laureates for the globe Food Prize.
Des Moines architects Gutterson & Smith designed the fine arts vogue building. It had been created of pink Gopher State sedimentary rock. A mural was painted on the bottom floor of the library by capital of Iowa creator Harry Donald Jones. It had been a project of the Works Progress Administration. The mural covers one,091 sq. Feet (101.4 m2) and portrays the event of capital of Iowa from pre-historic times to the twentieth century.The building featured a fountain and iron steps, that were removed in 1955.
