Pollachi is a town that is located in the Coimbatore District of the State of Tamil Nadu. Pollachi is an up and coming and has a predominantly agricultural economy. Green rice fields can be seen all around the town and entire area is extremely pretty. The town is located around 40 from the city of Coimbatore. Pollachi is located very close to the Western Ghats and it has a pleasant climate throughout the year. Pollachi get substantial rainfall during the monsoon season and this is the reason for the predominance of agriculture in the area. Pollachi is famous for the market which has a wide variety of products. Pollachi has a jaggery market which is considered to be the biggest jaggery market in Asia. Pollachi is also famous for its cattle and the cattle market is also another interesting place to visit. There are many ancient temples that are located in Pollachi and the town itself is very old. The Subramanyar Temple is considered to be among the oldest in the area. Pollachi is also well connected with the rest of the State. The roadways are extensive and connect to most of the important cities. There are few dams that are located in the vicinity as well.

Pollachi is located in Coimbatore district in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located in the southern Coimbatore Pollachi is the second largest town of the district. Its location near the Western ghats not only provides for an extremely pleasant weather throughout the year but also charming scenic beauty. The picturesque location has become a favourite among filmmakers with over 1500 movies being shot here in the past few years. Subramanyar Temple is the most popular tourists spot in Polluchi. The Jaggery Market of Pollachi is the largest in Asia and the vegetable market is one of the largest suppliers in the central region of Kerala. The Cattle and iron markets are also the largest in Southern India. Besides the market, there are also several dams which attract a lot of tourists. Some of the popular dams are Nirar Dam, Azhiyar Dam, Meenkara Dam, Sholaiar Dam and Peruvaripallam Dam. The town also houses various temples such as Ramalinga Sowdeshwari amman temple, SubramaniaSwamy Temple, Maasani Amman Thirukoil, Alagunachi Amman Temple, Thirumoorthy temple, Sulakkal Mariamman Thirukoil, Shree Velayudhaswamy Thirukoil, Echanari Vinayagar Thirukoil, Ambarampalayam Darga and Arulmigu Prasanda Vinayagar Temple. The town is also in proximity to Azhiyar Siddashram, Anaimalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Topslip, Valparai, Masaniamman temple, Amaravathy Dam and Crocodile Park.

By Air : The nearest airport is located at Coimbatore which is 40 km from the town. There are taxis and prepaid taxis that are available from the Coimbatore Airport to the town. They charge around Rs 600 and this is a good option. Coimbatore Airport is well connected to most of the main cities in the country.

By Train : Pollachi railway station is along a main line and there are many trains that pass through the station. Travelling by train is a good option. However the railway lines are being converted in to broad gauge and travelling by train may not be possible for a while.

By Bus : Pollachi bus stand is situated inside the town and government buses are available frequently to most cities. Government buses connect Pollachi to most of the nearby towns and cities. There are a few private operators that are also operating buses to the Pollachi bus stand from Coimbatore, Dindigul, Chennai and some other cities. Private buses are comfortable and they have the option of A/C as well. Some private operatoRs may even sleeper buses which are a good option.

By Taxi : Taxis are also available from Coimbatore and other cities to Pollachi. They charge around Rs 7 per km for the trip.

Utsavam or Annual Festival ; Venue:  Pollachi ; Period :  February-March ; Details:  This festival is celebrated on the day of Pushya in the month of February-March. It is meant for the purification and revitalizing the powers of the deity.
Bajanotsavam ; Venue:  Pollachi ; Period :  August ; Details:  The festival is celebrated in the first fortnight of August every year at the Kalpathy Manthakkara Ganapathy temple.
Pongal ; Venue:  Pollachi ; Period :  January ; Details:  One of the most awaited events in Pollachi and all over the state, Pongal is celebrated with great passion and vigour. The term Pongal signifies sweet dish of rice which is eaten on the Pongal festival day. Jaggery, Cardamom and cashew nuts are also included in this dish for the celebration. The local people dedicate this dish to God Surya or The Sun God. It is one of the most important and well known festivals held in the month of mid January every year.
