The birthplace of Pilsner beer, Plzen, at the confluence of four rivers, is renowned worldwide. Located in Bohemia, at a distance of 90 kilometers to the west of Prague, Plzen is the fourth largest city in the country and offers a convenient base for exploring the Czech Republic. Comfortably accessible through the rail and road routes, Plzen features a great number of shopping malls, museums and art galleries, the Town Hall, the Gothic St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral, the Great Synagogue and the Pilsen Zoo, apart from the famous Pilsner Urquell Brewery.
The 20 kilometer long Historic Underground Network accessible from Brewery Museum is a fascinating tourist attraction projecting a sophisticated system of tunnels and cellars down to three levels spread under the entire Old Town area. The easy-going fun-filled town of Plzen is a grand celebration, especially during the events like the Pilsner Fest, the In-The-Streets Festival and the Liberation Fest.
