The Pioneers Monument Obelisk could be a monument in recent Montreal. The granite obelisk commemorates the inspiration of Montreal near this spot in 1642. The monument was erected by the Société historique First State Montréal to celebrate the city’s 250th birthday. One among the plaques on the side of the obelisk lists the names of the colonists United Nations agency came between might and December of 1642.
