The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Peter in the moss, and St. Peter called the moss is in the Lower Austrian village Muthmannsdorf partially built in the Romanesque-Gothic style, has frescoes from the Middle Ages and is located approximately half a kilometer south west of the town center. The church is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul and is part of the deanery of the Archdiocese of Vienna, Wiener Neustadt.
The medieval wall paintings in the transept dates from the mid-13th Century, they were discovered in 1939 and exposed. The center of the fresco is the Lamb of God and, starting from the twelve apostles are shown in four groups of three. On the vault of feet are the four evangelists symbols man (Matthew), eagle (John), bull (Luke) and lion (Mark) and in the archway lozenges and medallions with the heads of bishops and saints.
In Karnerkapelle Freseken are located from the end of the 13th Century. Shown are the entrance arch and a Martin scene bishops, angels in the vault and on the north wall four scenes from the Passion. The stained glass in the nave was in the early 1940s by the “”1 Tyrolean stained glass and mosaics made of Innsbruck Institute, “”which the choir in 1905 by the Viennese painter A. Seipl glass.
From the former Baroque high altar, which was demolished in 1900, are the two figures hl console. Joachim and Anna, who are positioned between the Gothic windows in the chancel. Above the altar hangs a late-baroque stone crucifix. The left side of the altar is dated 1667 and shows in the central niche of the mussel plague saints Sebastian. The right side of the altar is a Baroque altar pillar in 1700 with a copy of the “”villages Muthmann Madonna”” (the original was stolen in 1430 and 1968). The organ was the organ builder Franz Kremser Capek (1860-1938) at the beginning of the 20th Century and has made nine registers.
