India /Kerala /Kottayam /Peermede
Located at 75 km to the East of Kottayam, Peermede is one of the most sought-after hill stations of Kerala. This hilly territory beckons its visitors with delightful Trekking trials, picture perfect landscapes and cool romantic weather. This plantation town got its name from Peer Mohammad who was a Sufi saint who had close associations with the Royal Family of Travancore. Peermede is situated at an altitude of 915 meters and is constitutive of the Western Ghats. This hilly tract was once the most preferred holiday destination for the Royal Family, and it is undoubtedly fit to be so. Royal Family’s summer residence is a historical monument which has been converted into the Government Guest House. One would see wide arenas of tea, cardamom, rubber and coffee plantations spread across the hills. It appears as though God himself has draped a velvety green carpet over these hills. Other attractions of this place include Periyar Tiger Reserve and waterfalls.
