Pazhamudhir Solai, also known as Pazhamudhircholai, is one of these 6 holy abodes of the lord and is thus is an imprtant location on a pilgrim’s map. Located in a densely wooded area, the place is rich in fruits and herbs, believed to be a boon from Murugan’s wife, Valli, who is also believed to have lived here. The temple has a beautiful entrance, or gopuram, and an intricately carved vimana over the shrine of Lord Murugan. It also houses separate shrines of Lord Ganesha as well as Lord Murugan’s consorts, Goddess Valli and Goddess Deivayanai. The temple is quite famous in local folklore and Tamil legends and finds mention in the famous piece of Tamil literature, Sillapattikaram. Pazhamudhir Solai is a temple situated close to the Alagar Koil temple. Located on the hills, this temple is dedicated to Lord Subramanya. The temple is also considered as one of the six abodes of the lord. Devotees visit this temple in large number as in the evening the deity is carried on the golden chariot daily. Pilgrims also take a dip in the natural spring called Nuburagangai.The temple houses sculptures of deity carved in wood and marble. One of the highlights of the temple is the giant steps.
