Town with 10,300 inhabitants at the western foot of the Mátra Mountains, lying 30 kilometres from Hatvan along road 21. The Saint Laurence Parish church is a listed monument with some significant medieval Romanesque and Gothic sections. Organ of the church renewed recently will be inaugurated at the feast of Saint Stephen, on August 20th. Next to the church there is a Gothic hexagonal Chapel. Schoolmaster’s House, Gothic of the 15th century. Restored glass-works, a foremer workshop of the Cistercian monastery (14th century). The 18th century monastery building houses the local history exhibition and the memorial room an exhibition of Benjámin Rajeczky, Cistercian musicologist. Visitors can entertain themselves in the open-air bath with medicinal water.
