Panchkula is a city that is located in the state of Haryana in the Panchkula district. The place is a satellite city and it is located close to the border of state of Punjab. Panchkula is the 17th district of Haryana having its roots in stoneage with great cultural and spirtual background . There are 264 vilalges in this district. It has a population of 6 lakhs. In Sanskrit language various Harayana cities are mentioned In ‘Balmiki Ramayana’ reference has been made to today’s Panchkula which is situated in the Foothills of Shivalik Giri. According to mahabharata when Pandavas were exiled they spent most of the time in Shivalik Hills and there boundary was restricted to Morni HIlls and the present Pinjore town of District Panchkula. Pandavas during there exile made five ponds(Kools) here. Therefore, it comes to be known as Panchkula.

By Air : Flights can be taken to the city of Chandigarh and buses can be taken from Chandigarh to the town of Panchkula. The city of Chandigarh has good connectivity to all local destinations, and regular flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur to this airport can be availed. Flight fares will range around Rs 4,500 to 7,500.

By Train : Panchkula does not have its own railway station. The nearest railway station is at Chandigarh which is directly connected to almost all the cities across the country.

By Bus : Buses to the town of Panchkula can be taken from all nearby locations in and around the state. This is a very easy way to travel to Panchkula. Buses to the town of Panchkula can be taken from places like Chandigarh, Delhi, Gurgaon, Ambala, Karnal, Kalka, Shimla, Patiala, and even Ludhiana. Bus fares from nearby towns will cost around Rs 70 to 100, and buses from Delhi will charge fares of around Rs 1025 for an AC Volvo class of travel.
