Panchamukhi Anjaneya Swamy Temple is presiding deity of Lord Anjaneya (Hanuman) who has five heads, representing Varaha, Garuda, Hanuman, Narasimha and Hayagreeva. It is believed that the swayambhu (self createdmanifested) inscription of Sri Panchamukhi Anjaneya Swamy was worshipped by Sri Raghavendra Teertha. As per legends, Sri Raghavendra Teertha was an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara and Lord Hanuman. He performed penance for twelve years and Lord Hanuman appeared before him in the form of Panchamukhi Anjaneya. Every Face of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman has significance:
1.Sri Hanuman faces east. He grants purity of mind and success.
2.The Narasimha faces south. He grants victory and fearlessness.
3.The west facing Garuda removes black magic and poisons.
4.The north facing Varaha, showers prosperity, wealth.
5.The Hayagriva Mukha faces the Sky. (since we cannot see it, it is usually tilted and shown above Hanumans face. Hayagriva gives Knowledge and good children)
