A wonderful city to visit in the affluent state of Gujarat, Palanpur is the largest city in Banaskantha district and is the administrative headquarters of the district. The town is a very important place for pilgrims due to the existence of many temples in the region. Thus, the town of Palanpur attracts many tourists who flock to this town from all parts of the country to experience the holy and religious spirit and local festivities all through the peak season. As per the myth; it was first established by a Prahladan, member of the Paramara tribe of Rajputs, who got the area as a gift from his elder brother and ruled the regime of what is at present Mount Abu. Palanpur travel guide is full of references to the mesmerizing sceneries and religious spots. In the history of Jainism, Palanpur was known as Prahladanpur. The town later became the part of the royal state in British India. It was once fortified with seven gates offering the only means of driveway. “Delhi Gate”, “Meera Gate”, “Shimla Gate”, “VirBai Gate” and “Gathaman Gate ” are the famous gates.
