Poznan Science and Technology Park (Polish: Poznański Park Naukowo-Technologiczny) (PPNT), founded in 1995, is the first and oldest Science and Technology Park in Poland. It is located in the north district of Poznan (Wielkopolska region), Naramowice. PPNT activity supports relations of science and business by commercialisation of scientific results, technology transfer and development of advanced technologies to stimulate economic growth of Wielkopolska region. PPNT is a non profit organisation managed by Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation, which was founded in 1990.
Operation of Park started form acquisition of 3.1 hectares (7.7 acres) of land from gas-work plant and its adaptation for Park purposes in 1996-1997. 1 hectare (2.5 acres) was added in 2009, and now the total area of PPNT is 5.4 hectares (13 acres) and over 11,000 square metres (120,000 sq ft) of buildings. In 1995 Chemical Technology Incubator was founded, in 1999 Innovation Support Centre was created and Technology Incubator was built in 2005.There are over 50 active institutions that are tenants of PPNT employing over 350 people. Among them are companies, foundations, associations, research and development centres of chemistry, biotechnology, IT, ICT and telecommunication branch.
PPNT offers general and specialised infrastructure: offices, storages, laboratories and research, technological, business support and scientific services. Areas of scientific interest include chemistry, physics, geology, archaeology, chemical technology, IT, economic sciences.
Main priorities of PPNT are focused on incubation of Start-ups and technology companies, support and promotion of innovation and innovative companies, co-operation of science and business, research on new technologies and their improvement, conversion of scientific results into technological innovations and participation in economical development of the region by creation of optimal conditions for entrepreneurs.
PSTP participates in many international project and networks, which include Regional Contact Point for 7 Framework EU Program and Technology Transfer Department which is a member of Enterprise Europe Network. PSTP is also a member of International Association of Science Parks (IASP).Poznan Science and Technology Park is also active in domestic and regional cooperation with other science parks, local government institutions, business support organisations, universities innovation and technology transfer centres and cooperation chambers.
