The Oviatt Library (Delmar T. Oviatt Library) serves the American state State University, Northridge (CSUN) field, placed in Northridge district of the northern San Fernando depression in l. A. , California. The library is called for Delmar T. Oviatt, instrumental within the creation of San Fernando depression State faculty, CSUN’s forerunner.
Original construction of the library was in 2 phases. The primary section was opened on United Nations Day, 1973. The second, completed in 1991, nearly doubled the scale with further east and west wings. Each phases were designed by the creator Leo A. Daly. The 1994 Northridge earthquake badly broken the building forcing the library to shut. The initial ‘phase one building’ re-opened later in 1994. The ‘second section wings’ required leveling and reconstruction, and re-opened in 2000. ‘The Friends of the Oviatt Library CSUN’ were fashioned to support the library.
