Oconee Hill burying ground is associate degree yankee burying ground in Athens, Georgia. The burying ground opened in 1856 and is found simply off the University Of Georgia’s field. Oconee Hill burying ground was purchased in 1855 by city|town} of Athens once additional burials were prohibited within the recent town burying ground onto land owned by the University of Georgia. In 1856, the town shaped a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees to carry and manage in trust the initial purchase of seventeen acres (69,000 m2) on the side of the North Oconee stream as a public burying ground for the good thing about the city.
