The Occidental Life Building could be a historic building set at 305 Gold Avenue SW in downtown urban center, New Mexico, within the u. S.. It’s a novel example of U.S. Venetian Gothic Revival design, sculptural once Doge’s Palace in Venezia. It had been designed by Henry C. Trost of the El Paso fine arts firm Trost & Trost, and engineered for the Occidental insurance Company in 1917.
The building has street facades on the south and east sides, facing Gold Avenue and third street, severally. These square measure two-faced with bright white earthenware tile and adorned with elaborate floral patterns. A row of pointed arches runs on every facade below a row of quatrefoil windows. Once originally engineered, the Occidental Life Building had associate overhanging cornice and wide arcades between the arches and therefore the building correct.
After a 1934 hearth gutted the building, the roofline was remodeled to additional closely correspond Doge’s and therefore the interior workplace house was distended, removing the arcades. The inside was remodeled as a two-story office block in 1981, keeping the earthenware exterior intact.
