The Oaks House deposit, conjointly called The Oaks, situated at 823 North President of the United States Street in Jackson, Mississippi, is that the former home of Jackson civil authority James H. Boyd (1809–77) and his mate Eliza Ellis Boyd and their family. Having survived the burning of Jackson throughout the warfare, The Oaks is one in all the oldest structures within the town. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and could be a Mississippi Landmark. The structure was in-built the Greek Revival vogue in just about 1853. The first property was larger than this one, at just once encompassing four acres (16,000 m2) and increasing north to Boyd Street and west to North Street, associate degree urban farmstead with main house, barn, detached room, smokehouse, greenhouse, and different outbuildings.
Three generations of the Boyd family lived at The Oaks, from 1853 till 1960. Mrs. Eliza Ellis Boyd survived her husband by a few years and lived within the house till her death in 1902. In 1960, the grandchildren oversubscribed the property to The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America within the State of Mississippi (NSCDA-MS). The house is currently a historic house deposit administered by the Oaks House deposit Corporation.
