The tallest and most impressive pagoda styled temple of Nepal, Nyatapol is situated at word number 11 of Bhaktapur Municipality. This beautiful temple made of clay bricks and wood, is considered one of the finest architectural masterpieces of Nepal. Inside the temple, an idol of deity. Siddhilaxmi, who is the manifestation of wealth, has been installed. it is said that the temple survived the ravage of the major earthquake in1933 (Excedpt some monor damge to the celiling of the fifth floor). This huge temple was built by King Bhupatindra Malla during the 16th century. According to the follore, the King himself had carried bricks like a laborer for the construction of the temple. Struts, doors and windown of the temple are embellished with attractively carved divine figures portraying divine stories. It is believed that the elephant above the stroung man standing on the front is ten times powerful than the man and it contubyes as deoucted there, Thus, the temple clearly prtrays creative traditionb of Newar craftsmen.

Nyatapola Temple was built in 1702 A.D by Bhupatendra Mala. This temple was dedicated to Siddhilaxmi, the tantric mother Goddess of supreme power. Nyatapola in Newari means a five tiered symbolizing five basic elements – water, earth, fire, wind and sky and is one of the tallest temples in all Nepal measuring over 30 meters.

Taxi : Taking a taxi to Bhaktapur is very easy from anywhere in Kathmandu city. However you will be paying upwards of 900 rupees and closer to 1200 rupees to 1500 rupees starting fee. Bargain hard.

Bus : There are many buses going to Bhaktapur from Kathmandu City. The easiest and most central bus leaves from Ratna Park bus stop. The cost of this bus to Bhaktapur is 40 Rupees, however foreigners are charged 50 rupees. Simply show up at the park and head to any of the buses and start asking for where the Bhaktapur bus is. Board the bus and pay when ticket collector comes up to you. It takes about an hour depending on traffic.The bus will drop you out side the main gate..
