Nurpur is a small town in the Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, around 70 km from Dalhousie. Located at an height of 643 mts above sea level, Nurpur was once the princely state of Pathania clans of Rajputs. The town was earlier called as Dhameri, but was changed in order to commemorate the visit of Mughal queen Noorjehan, who fell in love with the place. Dotted with a few historical temples the town is exceptionally popular for its various architectural splendors.

Nurpur is a city and a municipal council in Kangra district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Nurpur was named only after the visit of queen Noorjahan, who was very much impressed with the beauty of this place. Initially this place was called Dhameri. Now only ruins of the fort are present but still they very attractive place.
