Nova Prata is a city in Rio Grande do Sul, south Brazil, situated in the state’s mountainous Serra Gaúcha region. Its population estimate in 2004 was of 20,021 inhabitants. It occupies an area of 259.15 km². It is here that the ‘Municipal Forest of the Cascade of the Plant’ meets the ‘Hidrotermal Complex Caldas de Prata’, whose waters possess excellent medicinal and therapeutical properties.
