Nova Gradiška is a city located in the Brod-Posavina County of Croatia, population 14,196 (2011). It is located in the historic region of Slavonia, near the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first word in the name means New, and there’s also an Old Gradiška nearby, the town of Stara Gradiška. Nova Gradiška is often referred to as The youngest city.
The city of Nova Gradiška was founded in 1748. It had been founded because of Vojna krajina (Soldatensiedlung der Grenzgarnison Nr. 8) and was first named as Friedrichsdorf . Already in 1754. the first building built – is the church of Saint Tereza, which is an important monument of baroque building art in Slavonija. The old core is made of: church of Saint Terezija, old court and prison from 18. century.
