Detail InformationEdit

The Northern Wavebreaker is 1800 m long and 7.35 m wide. The structure was built at the end of the 19th century. The Northern Wavebreaker protects the aquatorium of the Liepāja Port from storms and sand drift. One cannot feel more alive than when standing on the windbreaker in stormy weather, and feeling the power of the elemental forces. It took two years to build the structure. In order to reduce the impact of the waves, tetrahedral-shaped concrete blocks have been placed along the wavebreaker’s northern side. When standing on the Northern Windbreaker, one sees a spectacular view of the Liepāja Port. The wavebreaker is a favourite place for the people of Liepāja to take a stroll on. For an unforgettable experience, come to the Northern Wavebreaker in stormy weather!
