Northbrook could be a village set at the northern fringe of Cook County, Illinois, that is additionally a North Shore residential area of Chicago. Once incorporated in 1901, the village was referred to as Shermerville in honor of Frederick Schermer, United Nations agency given the land for its 1st depot. The village modified its name to Northbrook in 1923 as an endeavor to boost its public image. The name was chosen as a result of the west fork of the north branch of the Chicago watercourse runs through the Village.
