North Dinajpur is a district in West Bengal and is known for its fertile soil. The district is home to many NGO’s. The Rajmahal hills are a part of the North Dinajpur district and are a tourist destination. There are many forests that are located in the district and some of them are important tourist destinations. The Sap-Nikla forest which is located around 22 km from the town of Islamapur is an important tourist destination. Many tourists visit the places for its many lakes. Some tourists also opt for sightseeing trips in the forest. Burhana Fakir Mosque and the Karnajora Museum and Park are among the most visited places in the area. Some of the other places of interest are the farm house Samaspur, Banabithi Resort, Bhairabi Goddess Temple which is located at Bindhore, temple of the Goddess Kali and Kunore which is famous for pottery work and terra cotta sculptures. The Temple of Kali which is located at Baira is a famous religious site among certain Hindu communities and many devotees visit the place. The temperature in the area is hot and humid during the summer and cold in winter. The public transport system is not extensive and private cars are the best mode of transport.

By Air : The closest airport is located in Kolkata and there cab services from the airport. The Kolkata airport is situated approximately around 230 to 270 km.
By Train : Many trains from Kolkata travel to the North Dinajpur district. They are usually a cheap and easy way to travel. However tickets have to be booked a few months in advance as it is impossible to obtain tickets in short notice. Tickets are usually around Rs 200 for non A/C 3 tier compartments. A/C tickets usually cost between Rs 600 to RS 1500.
By Bus : Government buses also ply along the route. They are cheap and are available from the main bus stand. Local buses services are frequent to the District from Kolkata.
By Taxi : Taxis are usually expensive as some of the roads in the district are not in conditions. They usually charge around Rs 1500 to RS 2000. However it may vary depending on the specific locations. Taxis charge around RS 7 per km for A/C cars. However it may depend on the type of vehicle.
