Nizam Sagar Dam is constructed on a tributary of Godavari region in the Nizamabad district. The place lies to the north west of the famous Pearl City or the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Though constructed solely for irrigation purposes, the dam also acts as a 3 km long connecting bridge as it has a 14 feet wide road built across it connecting the nearby villages. The adjacent Nizam Sagar Lake adds beauty to this place attracting a lot of tourists. Kids can enjoy a fun day of boating here. A beautiful garden is maintained adjacent to the Nizam Sagar Dam and serves as a favorite picnic spot for the whole family. Nizam Sagar Dam is a reservoir constructed across Manjira River, a tributary of River Godavari, Constructed by Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan in the year 1923 in the Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh. This reservoir is the main water source of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
This dam is one of the biggest in the world.
