Newberry may be a town in Newberry County, South geographic region, within the Piedmont forty three miles (69 km) northwest of Columbia. The charter was adopted in 1894. The population was ten,277 at the 2010 census. The seat of Newberry County, at only once it had been known as Newberry Courthouse. Newberry became a town in 1976, however failed to report the amendment to the government agency for quite twenty-five years. As a result, city|town} was listed as a town within the 2000 census. per the u. s. government agency, the city had a complete space of six.6 sq. miles (17.0 km²), all of it land.
