The first settlers within the space that will eventually become Neodesha established a mercantile establishment in Oct 1867 to the northwest of the current city. They were allowed by the Osage Indians to ascertain a mercantile establishment on the Osage Diminished Reserve as a result of the closest mercantile establishment was over thirty miles away. Once the Drum Creek accord had been signed by the Osage tribe in Sept 1870 and also the tribe affected to Indian Territory; it opened the manner for settlers to maneuver to the world.
