Nelliyampathy is one of the little known hill stations of South India. According to some historians, a rich civilization existed in Nelliyampathy during Tamil Sangam era. Kakatty serves as an ideal base camp with various trekking and other facilities. Nelliyampathy also provides great opportunities for hand gliding. Nelliyampathy is the perfect location for eco tourism. Perched at a height of 1585 mts above the sea level on the Western Ghats, Nelliyampathy is a beautiful place. Vellachimudi, Mayanmudi, Valiyavana and Vela Vanchan are some of the important peaks in this mountain range. Padagiri is the highest peak situated on the Nellikotta mountain ranges.

Nelliyampathy is a virgin hill station located in Palakkad district of Kerala. Nelliyampathy is blessed with lush dense rain-forests with number of wild animals like elephants, hill squirrels, deers and bison. Located above 467 m above sea-level, it is well known for its sprawling tea gardens, coffee, cardamom and orange plantations. The largest perennial multi crop organic farm in the world owned by Poabs-India has given this sleepy hill station, international repute. Several small waterfalls, streams and rocky hill ranges also add beauty to this wonderful summer destination.

By Air : The nearest airport is in Coimbatore, which is nearly 140 km away from the Nelliyampathy. Coimbatore is well connected to all major cities in south India, including Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Tourist taxi from airport to Nelliyamapthy costs about Rs 3000.
By Train : Palakkad, at a distance of about 75 km away from Nelliyampathy, is the nearest railway station. Palakkad junction (Olavakkode) is an important station and the trains have stop at Palakkad and from there one can take a taxi to reach Nelliampathy. Taxi costs about Rs 1500.
By Bus : Most of the south Indian cities are connected to Nelliampathy by bus. Tourist buses as well as State owned buses provide services from cities like Trichur, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Guruvayoor, Cochin and Trivandrum. From Palakkad to Nelliampathy buses run on regular intervals.
By Taxi : Taxis and cabs can be hired through the resorts and hotels. These are a safer option and they cost between Rs 7 and Rs 12 per kilometer. SUV’s such as Toyota Qualis are available for hire and they are ideal for traveling in groups.
