National Research Center on Camels, Bikaner is a farm engaged in research on camels at 8 kms from Bikaner. Edit
Detail InformationEdit
National Research Center on Camels established in 1984, this camel research and breeding centre is only one of its kinds in Asia. Extending over 2000 acres of semi arid land, it is wonderfully managed by the Central Government. It has about 230 camels and three different breeds being reared here. Even the British army is believed to have camel crops drawn from Bikaner during the World War I. The motive behind the establishment of this centre was to achieve a rise in commercial viability of breeding camels, mainly for the local people. No doubt, it’s an exciting place to visit, if you have a camel fetish and wish to spend a day with the indispensable ship of the desert. One can also enjoy the camel ride and watch camel calves gambolling around and returning from a day out in the desert. Its star attraction is its museum and Camel milk parlour vending unique camel milk products like ice-cream, hot and cold beverages.
