Situated in Daun Penh Street, 92 Sangkat Wat, National Library is another important tourist attraction in Phnom Penh. It was shifted from its original place at Wat Ounalom to this colonial building in the year 1924. This library along with many other prominent institutions was sacked by the Khmer rulers in the year 1975. The reading room of the National Library is also open to foreigners who would want to utilize this space. Displaying a valuable collection of over 100000 titles in Khmer, English and French, some of these books are available for tourists as well. There is a vast collection of palm leaf manuscripts of historical importance in the National Library which are now in the process of restoration works being done with the help of experts from the United States.
