Narkanda is a town and a nagar panchayat in Shimla district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.Narkanda is a beautiful town in Shimla. Narkanda is a hill station located between the valleys of River Sutlej and Giri in Himachal Pradesh. Famous for skiing, angling and several winter sports, Narkanda is one of the most well-known tourist spots in Himachal. Encircled by woodlands and tropical forest, Narkanda is a place of natural beauty with scenic views of snow-clad mountains.Narkanda is surrounded by the Sivalik range. About 65 km from Shimla, Narkanda is popularly known as the ‘Getaway to Apple Country’ as it connects to Thanedar, the main apple belt of Himachal Pradesh.Narkanda has become a famous tourist destination. It is considered best for skiing. Himachal Tourism and couples of other local tour operators conducts skiing courses in Narkanda in winters. The peak of Hatu is amongst the highest in the mid-Himalaya. This range is connected by a motorway. The Shrikhand, The Kinner Kailash and the Kullu ranges are major tourist attractions.

By Air : Flights can be taken directly to the Jubbarhatti airport, which lies at a distance of 155 kilometres from the town of Narkanda. Cabs and buses will be available from here and Shimla to Narkanda, and these can be taken in order to reach the place. The Jubbarhatti airport has frequent flights to Delhi for fares of Rs 5,600.

By Train : The nearest broad gauge railway station is located in the town of Kalka, which lies at a distance of 125 kilometres from the town of Narkanda. Toy trains can be taken on the Kalka-Shimla route in order to reach Narkanda for fares ranging between Rs 30 to 280.

By Bus : Buses are the locally preferred mode of travel and they are easily available in the town of Narkanda. Buses can be taken from many cities in and around the region, including New Delhi and Shimla. Buses can also be taken to Narkanda from Rampur and Kinnaur. The smaller regions of Kufri, Matiana, Theog and Fagu will also have government run buses to the town of Narkanda. Buses mainly ply through NH-22 and fares from Shimla will be lesser than Rs 50.
