Muyombe is a rural community town in Mafinga a new district east of Isoka, Zambia, and it is the biggest settlement in the region. The Muyombe Chiefdom was founded in the Seventeenth century by Vinkakanimba, who was an elephant hunter. He traveled from Tanzania through Northern Malawi. He crossed lake Malawi on a bark of a tree. The Chiefdom has one Clinic and one High School and several Basic and Primary Schools. The main economic stay of the area is farming, producing a lot maize, beans, groundnuts and rice.
Muyombe is well-positioned on the Eastern tip of the Northern Province and provides linkage between Eastern and Northern provinces. Access to Muyombe is by gravel road from the Isoka district head quarters Isoka in the Northern Province as well as another gravel road from Eastern Province. The area is now being used as a transit route between Eastern Province and Nakonde, a border town with Tanzania through the Kanyala-Nakonde road. Muyombe is also a gateway to the famous Nyika Plateau National Park, and Malawi through Katumbi and Rumphi.
