The Museum of Taipa and Coloane is an excellent attraction that was established to educate visitors about the rich cultural history of the islands of Taipa and Coloane. The museum is housed in a 1920’s colonial bungalow that once served as the Municipal Council on Rua Correia da Silva. Comprising of nine galleries, museum showcases exhibits that throws light on the history of both the islands.
The vast collection on display at the museum includes archeological finds that dates back to more than 5,000 years along with several handicrafts, architectural models and religious objects belonging to different periods. The galleries have been divided on the basis of location and represent a specific theme. Several important historical facts are presented through videos and visitors can even collect souvenirs from the in-house shop.
