Detail InformationEdit

Exhibition on the life and destiny of the blacksmith of Aizkraukle, Jēkabs Dannenfelds and his family. Until the autumn of 1989 the museum was located in Koknese – from 1951 through to 1966 in a house in the park, and from 1968 until 1989 in the building of the Lutheran church.
On 18 November 1989, in the courtyard of Kalna Ziedithe townsfolk of Aizkraukle (then called Stučka) came together for the opening of the exhibition “Manai Latvijai” (To My Latvia) – Jadviga Kluša’s Folk Sashes and Photographs by Jānis Tālbergs. In January 1990, visitors were able to view the first permanent exhibit: The District during times of Republic of Latvia. For more than ten years now, the Aizkraukle Museum of History and Art considers its home to be in the Manor of Kalna Ziedi.
Kalna Ziediis a farming property by the shores of the Daugava, which Jēkabs Dannenfelds, the Blacksmith of Aizkraukle Manor purchased from the Manor in the 20th century. Jēkabs Dannenfelds had two daughters, of whom the elder, Zelma, inherited Kalna Ziedi. During World War I, the original house was burned down to be later replaced by a new dwelling house and supportive structures. By the 1980s, only the dwelling house remained and this building was donated to the town by its last resident, Vilhelmīne Vabule (1901 – 1988).
At present the museum is offering the opportunity to view its permanent display “Tales of destiny from the shores of the Daugava”.
