The depository of Glass (MOG) could be a seventy five,000-square-foot art depository in metropolis, Washington dedicated to the medium of glass. Since its beginning, the depository of Glass has been committed to making an area for the celebration of the studio glass movement through nurturing artists, implementing education, and inspiring power.
The idea for the depository of Glass began in 1992 once Dr. Philip M. Phibbs, recently retired president of the University of sound, had a language with metropolis native and notable glass creative person vale Chihuly. Dr. Phibbs reasoned that the Pacific Northwest’s contributions to the studio glass movement secured a glass depository, and simply many weeks later he printed his plan and explanation for the depository of Glass to the manager Council for a larger metropolis. The site for the depository, directly adjacent to the Titaness Foss Waterway, was secured in 1995, and 2 years later acclaimed Canadian designer Arthur Erickson disclosed his style for the depository. Construction of the depository began in Gregorian calendar month 2000, and therefore the steel frame of the enduring hot-shop cone was completed in 2001. Shortly thenceforth construction began on the Chihuly Bridge Of Glass to link the depository to downtown metropolis.
