The repository of Biblical Art (MOBIA) could be a repository within the u. S. Dedicated to the exploration of the Bible’s inheritance in someone and Christian art. Originally the Gallery at the yank Bible Society, the repository opened to the general public as associate freelance entity on might twelve, 2005 in an exceedingly restored house at 61st Street and Broadway in big apple town.
The repository aims to become a nationwide recognized centre of experience on art and therefore the Bible whereas maintaining a profane distance from its subject. Though it grew out of the yank Bible Society, it’s not a spiritual establishment and takes no stand on faith itself. Rather, MOBIA hopes to open dialogue on an issue it considers under-explored, the influence of faith on art, whereas providing academic programs to guests of each age and understanding.
MOBIA’s director is Dr. Ena Heller. The repository is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday-Sunday from 10:00am – 6:00pm, and on Th from 10:00am – 8:00pm. The repository is closed on Mondays. Admission is free.
