Museo Historico Municipal Arequipa is located near the San Francisco Church. It features a naval museum alongside historic pictures in the making of Arequipa. Another highlight of the Museo Historico Municipal Arequipa are a series of paintings and caricatures visualized by the local artist Jorge Vinatea Reynoso (1900-31). Museo Chibaya which features a fair collection of pre-Incan artifacts of the Chibaya nation which earlier resided within the Arequipa region is also located here as part of the Museo Historico Municipal Arequipa complex.
