Mukutmanipur is a town that is situated in the Bankur district of the state of. It is situated at the confluence of the two rivers known as Kumari and Kangsabati. Mukutmanipur is an important center for tourism and there are several places of interest in the town. The town is home to the second biggest earth dam in the world and this was built to promote tourism. It is an ideal picnic spot and many people can be seen near the lake. This is said to be among the most popular picnic sites in the state of West Bengal.Bangopalpur Reserve Forest is situated near the lake and this place is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The ruins of an ancient town are also present at a distance of about 4 kilometers from the place. This was an important pilgrimage center for Jains, however much of it has been destroyed due to a flood. Tribal handicrafts are also being promoted in the town and the artisans use bamboo sticks and grass to make their products. You can purchase these handicrafts as souvenirs. The town experiences a healthy climate and the conditions are ideal for visiting throughout the year. However it might be advisable to avoid visiting during the monsoon season as most tourists activities are suspended due to rainfall. Summers can be hot and conditions might be uncomfortable during the peak summer season. Winters are also dry and mild and this is the best time to visit the place. The tourist season is during the months from October to March.
