Detail InformationEdit

Mount Albert Grammar School, or MAGS, is a co-educational secondary school in Central Auckland, New Zealand. It teaches from year 9 to year 13. Mount Albert Grammar is one of the largest secondary schools in the country. It is one of the most multi-cultural schools in New Zealand, containing over 60 different ethnic groups.
Sophia Taylor, a major land holder in Mount Albert, sold 16 acres (6.5 ha) of her estate, Alberton, in 1916 for the school. Mount Albert Grammar was founded in 1922 as a subsidiary of Auckland Grammar School, but now the two schools are governed separately. Mount Albert Grammar School was originally boys only, but it opened its roll to girls in 2000. While the school is now basically co-educational, the junior school classes (years 9 and 10) are still single-sex.
