Detail InformationEdit
The monastery was built during the medieval period, between the 12th and 13th centuries; the abbatial temple, chapter house and what remains of the dormitory and refectory date back to this period.During the modern age, coinciding with 16th and 17th centuries, the cloister was built and the upper cloister, abbatial palace, Covent, lodgings, library, and the chapel of the Virgin of the Barda.
The floor plan of the church is similar to that in the monasteries of Clairvaux and Pontigny, a Latin cross plan with three naves, the ambulatory sanctuary with five side chapels. Its interior is noteworthy for the simplicity of its lines, with no decoration.Out of the medieval rooms, the only one that remains is the chapter house, square planned, and a roof with nine sections of ogive vaults. The cloister is Renaissance, square planned, in which there are pointed arches and exterior buttresses.
