Mitchell may be a town in Lawrence County, Indiana, us. The population was four,567 as of the 2000 census. Mitchell was designed as a railroad city within the mid-19th century. At this location in Lawrence County, the Chicago, Indianapolis and metropolis Railroad, higher known by the shorter name of “the Monon”, was designed as a north-south line from New Albany to Chicago, passing through the world that became Mitchell in 1853. In 1857, the east-west Ohio and Mississippi Railway (later a part of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad) was completed, as a part of a link between Cincinnati and St. Louis. It’s the birthplace of traveller Gus Grissom, United Nations agency flew on Liberty Bell seven, Gemini 3, and died in an exceedingly launch pad fireplace at Kennedy house Center in 1967.
