Mirissa lies at the south end of the Weligama Bay and its gentle habor is a popular launch point for whale watching tours. The Mirissa Beach on the east side of town is a popular swimming spot and its sandy shores are enjoyed by visitors. The town hosts a large number of guest houses and small hotels as well as easy access up and down the coast by bus.
