Medinipur is a district in the state of West Bengal and the headquarters of the district is the town of Tamluk. Some of the main places in the district are Haldia, Haria, Mahasidal, Panskura, Contai and Chandipur. There are a few places of tourist interest that are located in the district and these include picnic spots and historical sites. The town of Tamluk has many interesting tourist options and these include Rakhil Bati and the archeological museum that was built during the 19th century. There are a few picnic spots that are located in and around the town as well and these include Maahisadal, Matangani Shahid Samarak and Geonkhali. You can also engage in activities such as fishing and angling in the various rivulets that are located in the region. Junput is a popular spot for fishing and this is located at a distance of around 40 kilometers from Diga. Boating and other activities are also possible in Diga. Shankarpur is a clean and virgin beach that is located in the region and it is lined with many casuarinas trees. The place where the Subarnarekha River meets the Bay of Bengal is a popular picnic spot and the entire area is a scenic one. The climatic conditions of the region are by and large similar to the climate of the rest of the state.

By Air : The Nearest Kolkata Airport is the most suitable option for travelers who are arriving by air. The airport is well connected to 25 Indian cities and several foreign places as well. By Train : Nearest railway station is Digha is a terminal railway station on the Tamluk-Digha branch line and is located in Purba Medinipur district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It serves Digha sea-side resort. The railway station is near New Digha beach.
By BUS : Government buses connect the district to most parts of the state. These are a cheap option, however they might not be comfortable and buses are often crowded. Ticket prices vary according to the distance travelled.
