Set in the Aburra Valley running south to north, Medellin, home to over 2 million people is the second largest city in Colombia. A relatively new city which was notoriously associated with drug mafias during the 1980s and 1990s, Medellin has overcome these barriers and is one of the top industrial city in Colombia. Surrounded by eight satellite towns, Medellin is a genuine conglomerate featuring suburbs, industries, recreational grounds and an international airport as well. Fondly called ‘The City of Everlasting Spring’, the climate of Medellin is quite mild and pleasant.
Situated at an elevation of 4,905 feet above mean sea level, Medellin generally stays cool with a couple of hours of good sunlight. The surrounding mountains not only provide an abundance of fresh air, they provide several sites and destinations of tourist interest. Other popular neighborhoods near Medellin City include Prado, El Poblado, Laureles, Estadio and Suramericana which are modern and hold some of the best Salsa Clubs.
